Excited but Nervous
Well I am kind of ready for Pickens High but there is this gut feeling inside of me that wants me to be nervous. I don’t know what to expect. People tell me that high school is so fun and that it is way better than the middle school. I hope that the people who have told me that High School is fun, are telling me the truth. I believe that High School is basically your last chance to have a fresh start. That is why I am kind of excited. New Beginings, New People, New School, and New Teachers.

My last year’s Honors kids were very happy at the high school. You’ll be seeing a lot of your friends, since we are collected mostly in the 9th grade wing. My room is the first on the left upstairs, and there are two more English teachers, Mr. Scott and Mr. Geren, who are very cool. Then the rooms of the social studies teachers, Mr. Thomas, Mr. Whitaker, and Mr. Young, then there is a science room on the end. Downstairs are math and more science rooms.
What are you reading so far? I just finished a memoir by Ashley Rhodes-Courter, a young woman who was in foster care for more than 9 years. It was pretty disturbing, but has a happy ending. I love books about young people who overcome bad things in their lives to be successful.

Cool.
Oops, I’m actually NOT cool, but rather sunburned from an all-day stint at the beach yesterday. I was hanging out with my niece and her little boy Hunter. Obviously I haven’t been outside enough this year yet, as I got red! Then she wanted to watch “Twilight” – have you read the books? – which I hadn’t seen yet, so we got in bed kind of late. Then I drove back this afternoon. I liked the movie a lot, but not as much as the books, of course.
I read LHA’s Twisted book to my writing class this past semester. They really loved it. Have you read any others of her’s?

Well, Kamish, you burned up the bloglines for a couple of days and now you’ve fallen silent. Are you still reading and enjoying your summer?
